The original app needed an administrator to place members into events by hand, which does not grow with the membership. The new centre of gravity is groups people join themselves, with group leaders opening their own topics and sessions.
The entire web side was mine: standing up the CMS from scratch, building the member surfaces from browsing and joining a group through to the profile and 'my groups and events', and the host surfaces for running a group and its sessions.
What turns it into a business is the Stripe integration for joining fees, so a host earns from the circle they open.
